5G Consultation

Proposed reforms to permitted development rights to support the deployment of 5G and extend mobile coverage

Important: This consultation closes at 11:45pm on 4 November 2019.

The government is seeking your views on the principle of amending permitted development rights for operators with rights under the Electronic Communications Code (Code Operators) to support deployment of 5G and extend mobile coverage, and the circumstances in which it would be appropriate to do so.

The consultation is open to everyone. It is keen to hear from a wide range of interested parties from across the public and private sectors, as well as from the general public.

The consultation also seeks views on whether it is appropriate to impose specific limitations, conditions and restrictions on any amendments to permitted development rights to mitigate the impact of any new development.

The full consultation document can be downloaded/read here.
