Bishops Caundle Half Marathon

Now that the New Year is upon us the Blackmore Vale Lions attention now focuses on its annual Half Marathon which starts and ends at Bishops Caundle on Sunday 4th February.

This race is a fully sanctioned Dorset League Race and is the first organised Half Marathon of the year.

This is truly an international event as we receive entries from as far afield as Yorkshire and Ireland.

We are well on our way to achieving our goal of 500 runners with many of our regular attendees having already signed up.

The course record is 1:9:11 for men and 1:20:56 for women and the Blackmore Vale Lions offer a prize of £100 to any man or woman who beats their own gender record.

Full details of the event and a map of the course can be found on the Blackmore Vale Lions web site www.bvlhm.yolasite.com where you can also download the entry form. The cost is £17/£15 on-line/postal per person if you are affiliated to UK Athletics – £19/£17 on-line/postal if you are not affiliated.

PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO ENTRY ON THE DAY

If a Half Marathon is not your cup of tea then the Lions also run a 5 mile fun run which you can enter on the day and the cost is just £7/£6 on-line/postal per

person. Children from the age of 13 are also welcome to enter the Fun Run and the costs are age 13-14 is £6/£5 on-line/postal and age 15 and above is £7/£6 on-line/postal.

Our major sponsor for this year’s half marathon is Dike & Son of Stalbridge to whom we are very grateful. We would also like to thank Southern Co-op, Else Family Butchers, Bishops Caundle School, Bishops Caundle Village Hall Committee, Sturminster Newton Rotary and The Scouts for their very valuable contributions on the day.
