I have lived in Okeford Fitzpaine for 10 years and served as a parish councillor from 2015-19. During that time I have supported Okeford Fitzpaine Village Hall, raised awareness of dog fouling, and assisted with the editing of Fippenny News. I also initiated the use of social media to raise awareness of parish issues with a wider and younger audience who would not otherwise have engaged with the parish council.
I work full time in the NHS as Head of Long Term Conditions at Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group, and lead on projects to prevent diabetes and strokes, and get cancer diagnosed earlier. This means I have an up to date knowledge of current health and social care policy and how changes in services impact North Dorset. Within the parish I am a trustee of Okeford Fitzpaine Village Hall and support the newly formed history group. I am also helping to organise the first Sturminster Newton Literary Festival.
If elected I will continue to build on my experience as a parish councillor to make Okeford Fitzpaine a lovely place to live, and work to ensure it is sustainable for the future. I will continue to encourage and empower people who would not usually get involved in parish issues to contribute to improving the community.
