For those who don’t know me, I was born in Okeford Fitzpaine and I have served on the Parish Council continuously from some time in the early 70’s. I am an older brother to Councillor Steve Corben, not his father (much to his amusement) as some people have thought.
In that time I have served as Chairman for a short while and have been Vice Chairman for over 20 years. I have served as the Council’s representative as a school governor, a post not now open to the Parish Council.
Being a councillor can be a rewarding job but it can also be very frustrating – especially planning – but I have always tried to do what I thought was best for Okeford. On the planning we in Okeford will, according to what is now Dorset Council, be having one hundred house, maybe more, over the next five to ten years. Saying we don’t want them will not stop them coming. The best way forward, in my opinion, is that we work with the planners and the developers and make the best we can for Okeford.
It is very encouraging that there are ten candidate for seven seats and we will be having an election so if you can turn out on election day and vote for Robert Corben it would be very much appreciated.
